Essential UK & Holland
The Best of london and amsterdam
Day 1 – Arrival in London
Private transfer from London airport to your hotel. Free time to relax and adjust to the timezone. In the afternoon meet your private driver-guide who will introduce you to the highlights of London. See some of the most iconic landmarks of the British capital, stop for photographs and listen to the interesting facts and stories your guide will recount. Drive by Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, St James’s Park, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace, and others.
Day 2 – Royal London
Start the day at Buckingham Palace by witnessing the Changing of the Guard. Your local tour guide will explain the entire ceremony and entertain you with interesting stories. Make sure to bring your camera to this pompous event, and we mean that in a good way. Later visit the Tower of London, one of the most iconic fortresses in the world, a former royal palace, prison, armory and even a zoo. Your ticket includes access to the Crown Jewels exhibit and the Yeoman Warder guided tour with historical reenactments.
Day 3 – Day trip to Stonehenge
Today take a private day trip to Stonehenge, the most famous and mysterious ancient site in the UK with giant stones dominating the Wiltshire countryside. Developed in stages over half a millennia, the giant standing stones of Salisbury Plain weigh up to 50 tonnes. Also see the mysterious Avebury stone circle with the outer circle almost a mile in diameter, and visit the medieval city of Salisbury and its magnificent Cathedral built in the 13th century and topped with the tallest spire in Britain. Return to London at the end of the day.
Day 4 – The Cotswolds
Begin the day with a drive through the English countryside, first to Stratford Upon Avon, the birthplace of the great poet William Shakespeare. See the house where the writer was born and the Holy Trinity church where he was both baptized and buried. After some free time in the village, travel south to the stunning Cotswolds, an area of unparalleled beauty that is home to some of the most picturesque villages in England. These villages with their limestone buildings, old churches, traditional pubs, dazzling gardens, and historic monuments will sure steal your heart. Return to London at the end of the day.
Day 5 – Travel to Amsterdam
Upon check-out a private driver will take you to the airport to board a short, non-stop flight to Amsterdam. After settling in at your new hotel, enjoy a sightseeing cruise on Amsterdam's UNESCO listed canals. Learn interesting facts about each monument and Amsterdam as you glide along the main landmarks of the city, including the Wester Church, Maritime Museum, City Hall and Dam Square.
Day 6 – Highlights of Amsterdam
In the morning meet your private guide and together go on a walking tour of the city discussing all things local, such as food, customs, bicycles, coffeeshops, houseboats, and everything you've ever wondered about Amsterdam. Many canals meander through this human-size town, making it a natural environment for walking (and biking) with very little traffic. You will see Dam Square and the Palace, the Red Light District, and also explore hidden places, churches, the New Market Square, and Chinatown. Later, visit the Anne Frank House and learn about the touching story of Anne and her family during WWII, the Diary and the Secret Annex.
Day 7 – World-class museums
Today discover Amsterdam's must-see art attractions: the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. The Rijksmuseum showcases an impressive art collection dedicated exclusively to Dutch artists. Among others, you will be able to see the works of famous painters, such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer. Other exhibits cover various other aspects of Dutch history through sculptures, archaeological artifacts, prints and maritime items. The Van Gogh Museum houses the largest collection of the painter's works starting from 1860 to the early 20th century.
