The Catalonia Experience

Barcelona, costa brava, paradores, catalan art and architecture

Day 1 – Arrival in Barcelona

Private transfer from Barcelona airport to your hotel.  Free time to adjust to the timezone and relax. This proud and beautiful region of Spain benefits from the perfect location by the Mediterranean and offers incredibly rich culture, warm weather, a packed calendar of fiestas and a unique architecture.

Day 2 – Barcelona

Join your guide as you explore the beautiful city of Barcelona and get the in-depth perspective and interesting anecdotes that only these experts can provide. This 4 hour tour will take you to the beautiful sights of the city including Casa Batllò Park Guell, Passeig de Gracia, the Olympic Ring and much more.

Free time for the rest of the day.

Day 3 – Montserrat and Cava country

In the morning, your driver will pick you up and take you to the Monastery of Montserrat, perched on the side of the mountains with breathtaking views over the valley.  At Monserrat you will visit the monastery, the basilica and the museum.  Before returning to Barcelona you will stop in the Cava region to taste the famous bubbly wine, Catalonia’s national drink (the Catalan version of French Champagne).

Day 4 – Gaudi’s Barcelona and Flamenco

Half of Barcelona’s popularity is due to architect Antoni Gaudi, who in the early 20th century was already way ahead of his time designing extraordinary buildings. This tour is dedicated to one of Gaudi’s most popular buildings, Sagrada Familia. Sometimes defined as “organic style”, Sagrada Familia is a church like no other because of its unique shape and design. Your tour includes a visit to the interior.

In the evening, experience a session of Flamenco in a small venue in the Gothic Quarter. We ourselves prefer smaller intimate venues where locals go rather than the big expensive shows. This one is sure to make for a special evening, goosebumps included!

Day 5 – Sailing trip

In the morning, go on a sailing excursion. Meet your captain at the Olympic Marina. Board the yacht and sail   along the coast admiring Port Vell, the Columbus Monument, Montjuic and other landmarks from the water.

Free time in the afternoon to explore other parts of the city, go to the beach, visit the Mirò Foundation, the Picasso Museum, or try some tapas and churros con chocolate.

Day 6 – Costa Brava

After checking out from the hotel, pick up your rental car and drive to along the scenic route of Costa Brava towards La Bisbal. We suggest that you stop in the charming towns of Tossa de Mar and S’Agarò. Arrive at Castell d’Emporda, a beautiful castle where you will spend the next two nights. Enjoy the evening by the pool or the hotel grounds overlooking the beautiful countryside.

Day 7 – Figueres, Dali Museum and the scenic coast

Explore the area on your own. We suggest a visit to Figueres to the Dali museum. The artist spent the last years of his life designing this place. If you are a true fan of Salvador Dali, you can also drive to the nearby seaside town of Cadaques to visit the artist’s house. Spend the rest of the day on the coast, between the sandy beaches of Roses and the charming town of Sant Feliu de Guixols.

Day 8 – Parador de Cardona

Drive to Parador de Cardona, an impressive medieval fortress north-west of Barcelona, converted into a beautiful hotel. On the way, we suggest a stop in Girona to explore the medieval town center. Check in to the parador, free time to relax.
