If you have never been to France, we suggest visiting Paris of course, and if time allows, you may want to pair it with a visit to Provence. These most popular places will give you a taste of both the big city and the dramatically different Southern slow pace of life. If you are into wine, a detour by the Bordeaux area, Burgundy or Côtes du Rhône is a must, however many regions of France actually produce excellent wine and you will encounter local vineyards pretty much in any region you visit. For lovers of history, the grandiose Châteaux of the Loire Valley, the landing beaches of Normandy, or the medieval castles and prehistoric caves of Dordogne will provide cultural satisfaction. History in France is encountered around every church, town and village. If you are looking for an out of the beaten path adventure, why not explore the wild coastline of Brittany or the flowery canals of Alsace and its half-timbered houses. The beaches of the French Riviera will provide the glamour and sunshine while the Western coast of Biarritz will be oriented towards spa and seawater treatments.
