Voltage
The standard voltage in France is 220 Volts AC, 50Hz. Any electrical
appliance normally used for a different voltage must either have dual
voltage compatibility, (most modern electric shavers and small personal
travel appliances do) or be attached to a converter for small appliances.
Refer to your local electrical shop for the right converter for your needs.
Sockets
The standard plug is the two round prongs type. Adapters to convert
appliances to fit French electrical sockets are readily available outside
France.
In the US, your local RadioShack carries such items:
Grounded Adapter
Non-grounded Adapter
Remember that an adapter does not convert electricity; it simply modifies your plugs for foreign outlets!

Pins are on 19 mm centers, 19 mm long and 4.8 mm in diameter.
Maximum current 16A, but very often outlets are fused at 10A or less.
Standard: CEE 7/7 (French/German combination plug)
